Mariners Share How Clutch Scott Servais Has Been
Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Mariners had a season to remember in 2022, winning 90 games and securing the second Wild Card in the American League, reaching the postseason for the first time since 2001.

The team’s manager, Scott Servais is one of the three finalists for the American League Manager of the Year Award along with the Cleveland Guardians’ Terry Francona and the Baltimore Orioles’ Brandon Hyde.

Servais had a knack for winning some tight games as manager of the Mariners this season.

Seattle led all of Major League Baseball with 34 one-run victories, tied a franchise record with 13 walk-off wins, had the best winning percentage in the American League in extra-inning games, going 11-5, and were third in the American League with 40 come-from-behind wins.

Servais’ AL MOY Case

Servais certainly has a strong case for being named the American League Manager of the Year.

Seattle pulled out some clutch victories in 2022 on their way back to the postseason for the first time in over two decades.

Along with Francona and Hyde, Servais is certainly deserving of the AL Manager of the Year Award.

The Mariners had gone 90-72 in 2021, but fell just short of the postseason.

This year was different.

The Mariners got off to a slow start and picked themselves right up off the mat in late June, clawing their way back into the postseason race and proving to be a thorn in the side of other American League contenders.

And their knack for winning close games also should help Servais case for the award.

The Manager of the Year Awards will be announced on Monday, November 14.
