"I don't know if he thought it was going to get blocked or if he bobbled the snap a hair or he just had a glitch, but it was a good one because when he paused and stuff and saw the edge, it was obviously a clean look and he didn't hesitate for it. 

"I was just told he hit over 20 miles per hour on it. So that's real cool. I know Ronnie felt bad about it, but wish we could have avoided that."

Speaking to reporters in the locker room, Wishnowsky revealed there was very little thought behind his decision.

"I winged it," the Australian said.

"I just sort of looked and saw that the whole rush team had crushed down on the protection and it was open, so I just ran."

There's no doubt Wishnowsky can run, with his speed, officially recorded as 20.13 miles per hour by NextGen Stats, astonishing tight end George Kittle.

"Did he really? Bull..." Kittle said when told what number Wishnowsky reached.

"You know what? When you have a punter, it’s the hair. It just flies in the wind."

All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams was similarly amused, adding: "I loved it. We didn’t even get a heads up on it on the sideline. 

"We’re over there getting ready to corrections and all I see is the Australian striking down the sideline. Unfortunately it was some bull**** penalty but love to see the Australian out there opening that stride out."

The 49ers probably won't call Wishnowsky's number very often going forward and likely won't want him to make improvisation a regular feature of his game. However, having shown his athleticism in the open field, the 49ers now have another unexpected weapon in their massive arsenal.
